The Inspiration Behind ~ A Shoulder To Lean On ~

A Shoulder To Lean On was inspired by a song. I'm a pretty emotional person, so when I write, it's usually something that I can relate to. Putting myself into each character so that they almost feels like a real individual. They tend to talk to you--if you're a writer you know what I mean.

So, I happened to come across Robin Thicke's songs on YouTube and opened up "Lonely World". It spoke to me. I mean really spoke to me like most great R & B songs do, because at the time that is exactly how you feel. You're in a world by yourself.

Loneliness is not a great thing for most people. It breeds unhappiness and as human beings, we need that social interaction with other people to survive. Just as babies suffer from the "Failure to Thrive" Syndrome, so do adults....it's called Depression. It doesn't help being away from family and the inability to make solid friendships. Your world just becomes lonely and you are often left to wonder, is this what the rest of your life will be.

A Shoulder To Lean On
Quick Blurb

Toni, Joshua, and Scott are three individuals. They come from three different backgrounds and have three different reasons for leaving their families. Some way they find one another and become the solidarity that the other needs. Inside of this is a relationship between Toni and Joshua, who become more than just lovers, but each other's hopes and dreams. These three go through their ups and downs and each of them giving the other "A Shoulder To Lean On".

Lonely World
Song Written and Produced by Robin Thicke

Sexy girl on a plane
Why you crying? What's your name?
Who you running from?
Teddy bear, pink room, Fresh out of high school
Sweet like the evening sun
Mama says don't you think you're special
Daddy says you're my queen
She's afraid, she's going nowhere
Locked and lost between
But oh lonely girl don't you worry babe
How can you get by?
lonely girl don't you live your life
Through someone else's eyes
******
Egg faced boy on a train, Why you sad?
What's your name? Who you running from?
Packed house, shared jeans, front porch, moon beams
He's gotta get out of this town
No more Bible he will travel, he'll learn so much in school
Daddy drinks himself into courage
Says "Fuck you, I'm no fool"
Oh lonely boy don't you worry baby
How can you get by?
Lonely boy don't you see your life
In someone else's eyes?
Oh dream on, Dream on dreamers, Keep on dreaming
Lonely girl don't you worry babe
How can you get by?
Lonely girl don't you see your life trough someone else's eyes
Oh dream on, dream on dreamer, Keep on dreaming
******
Beautiful Mom can you smile?
Can you glow? Can you sing me my favorite song?
Got fever, warm clothes are clean, kids are gon
What to do she's a sleeping sun
She says birds fly out her window
She watches jealously
She say she's too old for new things,
But Mama you've got wings!
******
Oh, lonely girl don't you lose your dreams by
someone else's cries
Lonely girl don't you see your life in someone else's eyes
Lonely World don't you find your faith in someone else's lies
Lonely World don't you live your life through someone else's eyes
Oh Dream on, Dream on dreamer
Keep on, dream on

Yes, that is song is powerful. Loneliness is like living in a shallow grave. Isolation is for the corpse. When you isolate yourself for long enough eventually thoughts become everything. Fantasy becomes life. Relationships mean little and the longer it persists the harder it is to form and sustain them. Loneliness feels like a disease.

Nice blog :)
